You attempt to widen the shelter and start to carve out the inside, but you hit the limit of the small hill, so you look for ways to expand outwards, you start to pile sticks, then rocks, and dig out dirt to pile atop it, your intelligence shows once more as the construct is stable, almost quadrupling your previous construct, though as the temperature gets warmer and warmer, your only supply of water ran out, what will you do?

The sweltering heatwave hits the surface hard, luckily, instead of investing in the surface, you invested in the ground, though, the lack of water is concerning, it doesn’t affect you as much as you thought.

Heraldton Epstein was elderly, by far the oldest of the tribe, his knowledge in construction was unparalleled, the upkeep of the shelter got more costly the less water they had, the river was drying up, they brainstormed, and over the decades Epstein had seen a peculiar phenomenon when exploring some nearby caves, at a certain level, water would appear, stopping the journey from progressing. So what if they dug down here?
After half a decade of rock against rock, they hit the water table, the gorgeously designed well seemed to shimmer slightly, as the tribe’s water supply reached unfathomable levels, the drying river died out, but a large canal was born, bearing plums for all around.
It seemed that the quality of the plums was better than the river, some thought it was the water, but something about that well did something.

A dog humanoid species. They are friendly and like to eat (even their own if they don’t have enough food). They represent the sin of gluttony and the virtue of temperance at the same time (can eat anything, doesn’t need to be fancy but need to eat).

vote: create an easy to learn language, succ (16)
+1 vote
Steve Goldbloom was now 40 years old, where had his youth gone, he looked at his son, who was turning 20, and remembered the early days of the tribe, when the average lifespan was 20, instead of 34. He looked at the old battle ax, his trusty partner over the years, he had given it to his son 10 years ago, the ax was as good as ever, in fact, seemed to shine slightly brighter these days, the desert wind blew through the forest, the trees littered with sand, the lake dried up, they sourced their water from the mountains, the snow turned into the water with some fire, a fifth hut has been constructed.
3 years later…
A new craze has appeared, a language, I was forced to learn it as my son had told me to, it seems to have made the tribe a lot more complicated, now we have all this complaining and whining, but now most of the children want to learn weapon craftsmanship from me, and all this other stuff, so I guess ill teach them.
2 years later…
How did I end up this yay, 45 years old? Why aren’t I dead! these children kept pestering me and now they are almost as good as I am! HOW?
4 years later…
Subtle improvements have been made here and there, a little pathway was constructed to the mountains, and an underground pool of water made us able to sustain ourselves without major implications, the children have been trying to replicate my battle-ax, but have not succeded, they will, they always do.
1 month Later…
AHH!
A thousand needles puncture into my brain, compressing it and growing it until it is twice as dense as before. The nightmare ends shortly, and I look around. picking up a torch, I go outside. My private cabin is a short way from the Tribe’s main living areas, but I bring the battle-ax anyway, my son switched it out for a larger, heavier stone hammer long ago.
Crack.
A hear a noise comes from the bush next to me, the howling wind stains my eyes with sand, but it doesn’t stop me from attacking the shrub,
SCREE!
A large half Raptor half-wolf chases after me, my old legs won’t carry me fast enough to dodge, so I must rely solely on my axes’ durability.
Clank!
The razor-sharp claws of the leekaely produce sparks when clashing against the ax. The hastily thrown attack sends me flying a meter or two, but I quickly regain my footing. The ax slashes down but suddenly jerks to the side, catching the beast off guard.
A shimmer of moonlight reflects off the ax, time seems to slow down as the slash hits the beast. The rebound hits me like a file of dirt as the loud sounds awaken some of the tribe members, my flashing torch signaling a battle ongoing.
The raptor lunges at my throat, my distraction causing a gap in my defenses, though something mysterious starts to happen, sparks of lightning arc off my skin and flood into the ax, though it is nonconductive, the ax starts to light on fire, the flaming ax draws the attention of the tribe as a fireball form in front of me, and rockets towards the wolf raptor.
Boom!
A muffled boom resounds through the forest, as everyone wakes up with headaches, The burnt crisp of the beast is only as impressive as the massive flaming ax.
11 months later…
The children did it, they made a beer axe, one of supreme quality, but it doesn’t have he same feel of Old Relible.
“If you wish to defeat me, train for another hundred years.”
