well welcome back to the forums @Deathwake!
you certainly missed a lot! (at least, if you have been gone for a year or so…)
thrive is very different now from what it was when you first played bout 3 years ago, i hope you enjoy the changes!
Why thank you! Yeah, and we have less kittygames. That was odd. I do love the changes, and this community. Nerds forever!
I was watching a video about Spore and someone talked about it. I thought it looked too realistic and would be confusing to learn, so i dismissed. Then watching videos about what Spore could’ve been, i saw it again and decided to give it a shot. Now i’m super invested on it.
I found this through a spike viper video.
I searched for evolution games on google and found Thrive
Played Spore, quite a lot actually, but wanted something more in depth and I didn’t care for the space stage that would make up most of the gameplay. I was and still am much more interested in evolution and how technology progresses.
So finding Thrive was pretty simple, googled along the lines “games like spore/evolution games” and on youtube also, Thrive came up multiple times, so decided to check it out, found it to be interesting and bought it. I enjoyed and enjoy the gameplay, even if it’s the cell/prokaryotic stage.
I was looking around at evolution games after seeing things like Adapt and the Sapling.
I originally stumbled upon it because of an evo forum game here, but because the game was dead I left and then a few weeks later I rediscovered it while looking for a game that could do my xenobiology project for me lol (like I set parameters and it auto-evoed). Saw the forum games (especially Pandora’s Horizon), and got hooked in.
offtopic
TBH I love the idea of and plans for thrive but it doesn’t seem to plan to go as non-LAWK as I would like. But that’s a whole different topic.
I was originally introduced to thrive when I ran across a video a few years ago about someone playing the game, I didn’t really care much at the time and eventually forgot about it, then I ran across another video a few years later, about the same game, so, I looked into it, and found the thrive forums, so, I made an account, was active for a few weeks, and then forgot about it again, then, a few months ago, I remembered it’s existence and became extremely active, and eventually got the game.
A YouTube video ages ago, I can’t remember by who but a year or so later I found the forums and joined
Oliver lungs video. speaking of which, is Oliver ever in the forums much often.
Every now and then, you know.
How was oliveriver introduced to thrive?
I don’t remember exactly how I discovered the existence of thrive, but remember getting into spore prior, but I was born to late to experience the golden days of spore(2008-2014)and my dad happened to know what spore was, although he probably meant spore origins, which was on his old old iphone 4, which I played when I was really little, and had no idea what the heck this spore game was, but then I started to read dramatically better, and asked my dad, and he told me about spore, so I googled it up and fell down the spore/thrive/speculative biology hole. I watched videos of thrive, and although it was not finished, it was so sciency, and I love science(I read encyclopedias for fun, ever since I was 6) so I followed the game, forgot about it around update 4.3 ish, then rediscovered it at 5.1, and found out about the forums, and for a while, I sort of lurked, but then I joined, and I was impressed by how professional the forums were for a medium-small game(it is not small because famous youtubers play it).
How did you find Thrive?
I dont remmeber 100% alreay
i do know its about like 10-13 year already by some resuren on the interetnt for sopre like game
and more 5 year to the exststen of that forum
So you found about Thrive over a decade ago?
Yes, that how old Thrive is, as far as I remember, around 2013-2015
but that how I remember that
That’d make you one of the older thrive fans still around the game…
