They are two, only because they communicate it doesn’t mean they are a singular one. Just like communicating with someone else doesn’t make you a single person.
they do work in a way that as long as they communicate they are perceived as one by almost everything though
Again, seperate, but together.
enough so that even they don’t realize they are two until separated
For almost everyone, it can be seen as just a single person. It’s only if they don’t fully join, or they become split later, that they can be seen as two. It doesn’t mean that we are all really pairs of persons trapped in shared bodies.
But this is a fundamental problem of personal identity. An individual is composed of many parts - we are made of many organs, many cells, many atoms. If part of my body is cut off, am I diminished as a person? Am I less of a person than I was? Less of an individual? There is no easy answer for most of these questions - but it is usually just an issue for philosophical speculation, rather than revealing something fundamental about our natures. The same issue applies to identity over time. Am I the same person I was 20 years ago? There is a line of continuity there, and I have many of the same memories as that person, and many of the same ideas, but also very different ones. I share an identity with the ‘me’ of the past, and yet I do not.
I’m trying to think of how to tie this back to the Aware stage…
speaking of that did you know all dolphins have DID that was evolved in a way that allows them to never need to sleep?
well yes but they need to have multiple personalities to have half their brain sleep at one time and half of it sleep at another time and DID can be observed in all dolphins that have both halves of their brain
the DID is more a consequence of the sleeping half of the brain at a time thing though not the other way around
What does DID mean by the way?
dissociative identity disorder which basically just means 1 brain containing multiple people if you oversimplify it enough
If its present in every individual of a species its no longer a disorder and thus its kinda weird to say that dolphins have DID
Absolutely right.
And also if DID is dissociative identity disorder that suggests dolphins have different personalities… part of me thinks they dont, so how did this even become a topic?
For the aware stage, it would be nice to see symmetry implemented. Personally I think that smoothing it out should be priority number 1, before fun features.
Please do not double post.
Instead, combine the two posts into one, or wait for someone else to respond.
-thanks, management.
(I am not actually a moderator, i just prefer it when people aren’t unintentionally breaking the rules.)
Well having half your brain asleep when the other is awake tends to make their personalities drift apart and dolphins display different personality traits at day than they do at night so that makes it seem like they do at the very least
Makes sense to me i guess
Have a complexity meter for creatures designed with Thrive creature editor[1] but have no limit for creatures designed in the game[2]
Why? The very reason of the creature editor is so you can make creatures without restrictions, why add a restriction to it that isn’t in the base game.
So that the file doesn’t take up too much space. And to promote playing the game. The restriction doesn’t have to be too much.
This wasn’t a good idea
Why would it promote playing the game? You are acting like people would just magically stop playing the game because they have a freebuild mode when there are countless games that disprove you.
