Multicellular Organisms!

Isn’t it the same for mucilage btw

I did not realize there was a dedicated thread for Multicellular organisms, so it makes sense to also post this here.

This kind of multi-membrane organism will not be possible in the near future.

And the fact it’s your own thread…

If I had known this thread existed earlier, I would have posted the organism first on this thread.

Too late now. I suppose it doesn’t help this thread seems to have been a bit burried

Just an option in discussion! (Even if I’m the one that suggested it)

I mean keeping one membrane only for multicellular is supposed to be the most scientifically accurate approach

Wait, so an organism with 2 membrane types (example: engulfing head and digestive tract, with non-engulfing sides (shell)) might still be allowed?

Well, right now, you can mix normal membranes, cellulose, silica, etc. in whatever way you want. All that’s happened is I proposed that we should disable this, because IRL all multicellular life just has one type. But most things in that thread have not been accepted or rejected yet.

I do think having some non-engulfing cells in an β€œanimal” of course makes sense, but there would be some different solution for that. Couldn’t tell you what, because there are several mutually exclusive suggested mechanics that could be used for that.

Don’t animals generally use an extracellular matrix for the hard parts?

Indeed, and on the roadmap planning thread you will find several different proposals for how to handle ECM. (Note that we have not decided which, if any, to aim for.)

It IS required to be added, right?

No. It’s my suggestion, but only very few things have been confirmed as things that will definitely happen.

I recall the roadmap has a point about intracellular matrix graphics. Is this basically supposed to be texturing for the cells’ insides? I presume this would replace the organelles to reduce the load on the game?

I might be mistaken, but I think that is suppose to replace the lines and give a clearer outline of the organism.

You mean like the rigidness of the hex grid?

Which roadmap are we talking about here?

I know about this thread where we’re trying to make a roadmap by brainstorming things to later be cut down: Multicellular Roadmap Planning - Meta - Thrive Development Forum

Yeah, when talking about intra/extracellular matrix, people usually meant just making the celled cemented together more. Though that would also relate to the same mechanics as those non-cell parts.

I was mentioning this roadmap:

Oh yeah, that exists…

I am expecting this to be updated in due time to represent this new roadmap being discussed on the dev forum
