were the disturbances a cave dwelling species at some point?
is that why they have no eyes?
or do they just have lots of tiny eyes?

We don’t precisely know.
@Mr42 May however know a thing or two about the new shrimp mascot of Thrive (as I presume they made it)…
The new mascot reminds me of Opabinia.
Now that I looked at it again, it seems to have these 4 head-limbs… Just like Disturbance!
All I know is that they are great at climbing kelp and have a barnacle like mouth
Soon enough it will become the face of Thrive as it seems…
It evolved its superior eyesight to outmaneuver its prey, which are blind. Soon its prey might even become extinct in the wild, though some isolated specimens may remain as well as those fossilized in the historical record.
Wait… Does the new mascot prey upon DISTURBANCE?!
What 3d modeling software did you use to make the shrimp?
Pretty sure they made it in blender, like their other creations.
I assume that the new website is working well as no one is commenting on that.
The gallery is gone for some reason, though…
It looks pretty similar to the old one all thing considered, which is probably for the better.
The RSS feed is broken:
It just shows the html code:

<p>Another week with incredible progress! Water currents are now in the game, affecting how microbes move and how particles flow. This makes the environment feel more alive and adds new challenges. We’ve also made some balancing to the game, making chloroplasts a more appealing upgrade from thylakoids for photosynthesis and much more!</p>

<p>The rush of activity that always accompanies new Thrive releases is subsiding this week as we get back to the more usual pace. <p>Last week we released 0.8.1 and as is usual the week after a release has been very busy with activity. Both in terms of how much the community has played Thrive and provided feedback as well as how many Thrive developers have activated to all at once work on new changes. <p>Environmental interactions get a lot more varied in this new latest version of Thrive. The first major change is that there are now environmental tolerances to consider. This means that your species needs to be adapted to the conditions of the environment you want to live in: temperature, pressure, UV, and even the presence of oxygen. I used the link on the right of the screen, right at the bottom, bellow the link to the wiki.
It was extremely outdated. I put the most relevant art to the press kit page to have some chance to have such a thing be updated.
And what did it used to do? An RSS feed needs a reader program to be useful. For me on Firefox it just forces me to download the XML file, Chrome does show the raw XML but I hadn’t tested the old website what Chrome thinks of that feed so I’m not sure if it at all different.
Testing with a real RSS reader the post feeds looks fine with it.
For example if I add it to Thunderbird as a feed:
Though I guess the dates might need some fixing.
Edit: I checked and the dates are actually correct, Thunderbird just shows the latest updated field and not the original publish time. Also I investigated a bit and it seems it is the expected behaviour that a browser will show just the raw XML, and people should know to put the feed URL into an RSS reader if they are user of such a thing.
So basically it works as intended, correct?
As far as I can tell, yes. And I asked an AI which said that I could technically do something like adding a browser stylesheet or force-redirecting any browsers away from the XML, but the AI also said that those are not really necessary and that most feeds just let people figure them out.
It’s womp3d actually
Right. Either Blender or Womp that you are using… Right?
