The last version I played was 1.0.0. I keep wanting to play again, but I always end up deciding to keep waiting for the next update. I wonder if thrive can add a stage selector like in Spore, where you can choose to start in multicellular or microbe, so that you can play or test Multicellular Stage without needing to play all of Microbe Stage first to get there.
I meen thereβs microbe and multi freebuilds now so ![]()
If I remember correctly, the devs said they wonβt allow people to choose stages because the organisms would be randomly spawned in. Those randomly spawned organism would not be properly adapted to the environment, and thus, die. Just like what happens in the free build modes.
Was this said on some thrivestream? I canβt recall this response from themβ¦
I think one of the devs, maybe hhyyrylainen, stated this somewhere on the forums.
They could do many rounds of auto-evo until one of the AI organisms becomes multicellular, and then let you evolve off of the first AI organism after one round of Multicellular Stage. (This is just for multicellular stage, but could work similar for the other evolution stages.)
Well I didnβt know that.
I do wonder if there could be some tradeoff made where you need to have autoevo up running a few gens to get into a multi start
Or would it be better to start out with a blank template that the Player designs, Auto-Evo then runs on it for many generations, and the Player can adjust their template before playing?
Also, does anyone know how many generations would it take for a random organism to evolve a nucleus, and then Multicellularity, via Auto-Evo?
I think around 25-30 gens should suffice for most cases
I can understand it not being high priority, but I would think that at some point the ability to start on a later stage would be a necessity. Though I do believe the player should have to get so far before being able to start at a later stage, say for example beating macroscopic before being able to start off as multicellular, or perhaps ascending before being able to start at any stage other than microbe. Either way, while I get it not being a now thing, I think it should be an eventually thing.
So would ascension unlock both space and ascension stage?
Wouldnβt it make more sense being able to unlock to start on a particular stage by beating that particular stage?
I think that would make the most sense, isnβt this how itβs also like in spore?
I did not know that is how it worked it Spore. It just seems more fair to beat a stage to unlock starting on it.
Now that I think about it, this might have been about playing with organisms that are shared and from other game files.
Or maybe both if multiple options were discussed
Other than achievements the game only saves save files. So Iβm not sure what other information you think the game should writeβ¦
Actually βjumpingβ to later stages can only realistically work with loading a premade save.
I think the save functionality would then already allow for such later stage βstartsβ.
My suggestion is meant to prevent people from rushing to the next stage with a poorly adapted organism that could not then survive the new stage. You would have to prove you are skilled enough to beat a stage before being able to start at it.
Would such organisms starting in later game stages still automatically get the proper biome tolerances of where they spawned, just like when starting Microbe?
Also, it makes me wonder if speedrunners will just rush to the next stage by making organisms with a bunch of Cytoplasms and a Nucleus, since Auto-Evo does create such organisms now.
Are you sure such cyto-titans are viable for moving on and not just a dead end?
