Progress Updates

Don’t worry, everything is fixed now!

The setting already exists right now and is on by default. This week just added that notification to it.

I presume one of the things to do right up next will be to make the gamete a unique cell type like the spore?

Already in progress! Though it’s a volunteer effort, so no guarantees on if and when it will be completed.

I do hope we won’t just lose it at the last stretch of code remaining then…

How large of a multicellular org do you need to get to the max view?

I’m not sure of the exact size, to be honest, but it depends on the size of the cells also.

I presume it’d max out by 20 cells org size even if you have rather small cells?

I wonder what would be the minimum max cell size to get max viewing distance?

Probably by using real large cells you can get it at a very low value

Macro stages are really being worked on (even if just small things)???

Does editing the gameplay cell layout cost MP like moving the cells in the raw layout would?

  • Added OpenGL compatibility to the prototype cloud renderer code

Yesssss. The sky will be changed!

  • Updated placeholder models for the Society and Industrial Stage prototypes:

Also, the improved models look great!

  • A new tab was created in the Multicellular editor for using the new layout preview and manual mode:

I wonder how much closer cells can be now next to each other based on this feature?

Probably the limit is their organelles from different cells encroaching on eachother

It was a totally random outside contributor (reminder: Thrive is open source so at any point anyone can try to work on anything for the game).

And also I presume those assets will eventually be deleted anyway once development proper gets near these higher stages

I know, im just happy the macro stages are getting a little little little littly bit better each update!

I mean on the other hand the development time being spent on them could be as well used to get faster in developing the actual important parts of the game to develop atm

It does not, no. It’s meant for smaller tweaks, so you essentially act as an alternative algorithm for converting the hex layout to a real one.
