Only very minor. The time the editor represents shrinks, until it basically cannot make any changes. An example might be how (some) humans have evolved lactose tolerance in the past 10000 years:
According to the gene-culture coevolution hypothesis, the ability to digest lactose into adulthood (lactase persistence) became advantageous to humans after the invention of animal husbandry and the domestication of animal species that could provide a consistent source of milk. Hunter-gatherer populations before the Neolithic revolution were overwhelmingly lactose intolerant, as are modern hunter-gatherers. Genetic studies suggest that the oldest mutations associated with lactase persist Dependi...
I also talked about the timescales here:
I feel like the timescales will be problematic here. Because the editor starts off representing hundreds of millions of years and gradually changes to be just some thousands of years. By the time you are in space you basically can’t even enter the editor. So waiting for a species to evolve to the space stage, which would take millions of years, wouldn’t really be possible.
