Quick Question Thread

Hhyyrylainen said a long time ago that it should take around 2 years per a stage after the microbe stage.

It entirely depends on how much content per stage we need to add, and how many volunteers we have joining the team to help out with the game programming. Right now I feel like 2 years is very optimistic prediction unless we make the stages really bare bones just so that we can have a mostly filled out and playable game. Though as the multicellular stage occasionally gets work done on it, thatā€™s probably realistic to complete within 2 years after the microbe stage.

As I understand it, thrive will be finished in Ā±10 years (unless, of course, the pace of development changes)

The - cannot apply in your estimation because the game is not done yet. Something like 20 Ā±10 years might be a reasonable estimation. Though that estimation relies on the fact that we can afford at least one fulltime developer working on the game. Which is currently not the case unless we get more Steam sales or Patrons.

How does one see their position (x, y) in the game world?

By opening the inspector panel found in the debug display menu, which is CTRL+F3 if I remember right).

What instrument(s) does the main ā€œdeeeeeer-neeeer-reeeeeerhaaaā€ in the main theme? (Or is it a computer generated sound?)

It probably is the latter.

Isnā€™t it strings (violin, cello or something else)?

Thatā€™s what I thought at first but it seems just a bit different from what Iā€™ve heard, but sounds can be different.
