Round 50 - Year 4, Month 4

This month has seen some developments involving the mistdom and the covenant, with the most important events being the destruction of D. Bontopius and the Vassalization of the Mistorb.

The former event included the last mist-aligned species trying to rescue the dark orb… from a place where it wasn’t even present! The covenant, lead by Deus, outsmarted the swarms, trapping them inside a fortress with nukes inside it’s walls, and once they detonated, the fate of the Bontopians was sealed.

The later one meanwhile had Deus and one of it’s allied species, the cultist cat-beasts, develop one special soul which would end up making the Mistorb bow down to Deus, however strange that sounds.

This last event however caused some shaking inside the mistworm termination council - not only has the entity it sought to destroy transformed into a semi-dormant state, now it appeared that Deus was in total control of the situation and not much more support from the users of the forum would be needed for the god of the archmage species to finish the job.

With that, the majority of MwTC memberbase left, leaving behind an userbase mostly devoted to maintaining the Mistvault PM, and formed two groups, whose goals are to help the forum develop and grow itself:
“Prosper First” Group of users, which can be compared to the FPG of the older days, looks to push the creatures and their “gods” to side and have the forum again be all about Prosper, as they argue that those entities being just as important as the main game itself in the forum lead to many users being scared away from the forum over the years.

The second group, “The Splitters”, having similar ideals to CPO or even the long gone BCA, meanwhile argues for the forum to become completely devoted to the creatures and for a new forum to be established for the evolution game.

Both groups however agree that due to these issues not being addressed over the years, PCDS (Prosper Community Dis’n’gree Server) has gained an edge over the forum.

MwTC meanwhile still advocates for the users to take on the darkblur, especially after new observations done a few days following the D. Bontopius species-wide slaughter have shown that the entity released by the Mistorb many months ago now has recovered it’s size and seemingly developed a physical form inside the blur, meaning that it somehow got stronger. Some MwTC users even made a theory claiming that the second blob released by the orb just before it got vassalized has been absorbed by the blur, while shortly after the new observations were done the blur disappeared again…

Seeing these changes aswell as how the Chaos Age player out, the Research Community (RC) decided that what was once known as the Chaos Age will from now on be called the “Confrontation Period” and that a new age in the forum has begun, called “Pax Foedus” (Foedus means “Covenant” in Latin).

MISTORB STATUS:

-??? HP
-Cannot do much itself in this form, especially as Deus now controls it in a huge part
-The Mistorb Vault built around it serves as a container and a barrier
-Located in the Mistvault PM, alongside the M. Cat-Bestiae Populace and The Laboratory

DARKBLUR STATUS:

-8/10 HP
-Insanely fast, can scale hundreds of posts in seconds
-Appears to be a dark sphere with a figure of some sort inside the sphere
-Hasn’t shown off it’s offensive abilities (if it has any)
-The De Facto Leader of The (Compromised) Mistdom at the present

Species

NPC - Sapiepoda TeaKinges, “The Crawler” - HO

  • Medium Omnivore

Mutations: Strenghten Warrior God X 2 (+2 Strenght), Refined Artificial Wings (+1 F Speed)
DM: Warbot Production

S. TeaKinges have decided to help out the god of their own, spending lots of time and effort into making this species-unique entity even better at fighting and wielding the various weapons the covenant has at use. Not only that, some researchers from the crawler kin have been looking into making further improvements in the artificial wing branch of science, which has been mostly abandoned in favour of planes recently. With enough sweat and tears from those individuals, the wing technology has been greatly refined, making free-flying crawlers far faster than before, securing their grip on the title of the fastest airborne species…
Deus, in preparation for the annihilation of the swarmlings, ordered the crawling aswell as the wall crustacean brethen to make the improved warbots they’ve worked on the previous month enter mass production, with the end result being the creation of a robot army large enough to take every position in the trench structure surrounding the now-false mistvault…

@doomlightning - Neodichorisare Cogitandi, “Divider” - HO

  • Small Herbivore

Mutations: Mental-Physical Separation (+1 Stealth), GE Metal Sharing (+1 Strenght to ALL Covenant members)
DM: False Mistorb Signal

Nd. Cogitandi, with the Glorius metal taking up increasingly larger parts of their bodies, started to have their souls somewhat separated from the more bio-mech hybrid bodies, giving them increased perception of their surrounding areas. Following in steps of helping all the covenant allies done by the wallcrabs, the dividers started to share far more metal of the glorious evolution with their friends which other covenant species are. The easily recognizable shine of the divider’s flagship product now can even be found in communities of species far away from any divider population centres!
With all preparations set in place, the god devired from the archmages, that being Deus, ordered some dividers which have constructed a makeshift mistorb-mimicking device inside the false mistvaoult, to use the said device in order to create a signal which would call all the members of the mistdom to come in aid as the orb finds itself in danger. While without previous knowledge about the dark orb this task could easily end up failing, with studies conducted by Deus the entire act was planned extensively already weeks before it would come to fruition this day, and the 1st step of getting the fruit would end up being the, in the end, successful false signal.

@CatSquared - Multipoda Cat-Bestiae, “Cat Beasts” - ID

  • Tiny Omnivore

Mutations: Better Cybermanipulation (+1 Strenght), Better Soulmanipulation (+1 Strenght), Soul-Powered Machines (+1 Strenght)
DM: Vassalization Soul Aid (4/6)

While in the modern months the focus of M. Cat-Bestiae species was on making the Devourer God stronger, some attention has been brough back to the base, turned-into-cultists species. The manipulative powers of the cat beasts have been a subject many members of the cult wanted to expand upon, and 4 years and 4 months after Limagriseus it appears that this group of the tiniest covenant members finally made the breakthrough, greatly improving the strenght of both regular cybermanipulation and “Soulmanipulation”. The Devourer itself got interested with the later one, as they saw potential in it for making the robots roaming the forum faster and stronger, and overall… just better. A few days later it turned out that this method is indeed viable, and while soul-charged robots now roam parts of the forum, especially the mistvault PM, their reach is limited by the small range of the cat beasts themselves.
Some of the smarter cultists, soon after the manipulation breakthrough, were also recruited by Deus for helping it with developing the “Vassalization Soul”, which could bring the constant danger of the mistorb breaking open to an end with Deus attaining some level of control over it. Using the new laboratory structure in their new home PM thread, those cat beasts did indeed bring help to creating this important soul…

NPC - Paucipoda Narrenists, “Darren” - HO

  • Huge Omnivore

Mutations: RPCGs (+1 Strenght), Guided Rockets (+1 Strenght)
DM: Prepare The Trench

M. Narrenists, while being slowed down in their inventionmaking due to certain incidents involving the swarmlings, were still rather capable of inventing new weapons, this month them being in the missile category of weaponry. Previously being limited to only carrying cybernukes over large threads when about to strike, missiles and rockets have now been scaled down, with what users described as “rocket-powered cybergranades” starting to pop up across the forum in darrenling barracks and other housing structures. But that’s not the sole invention of this month, as the second one happened to also involve the fast-flying explosion-carrying vessels - by manipulating souls and mechanical components, some darren scientists managed to create first guided missiles. Their technologies have mostly been used on the RPCGs, but some new guided rocket types are starting to be created by a new generation of Paucipodal researchers.
Deus, preparing for this since a few months now, ordered the darren commanders stationed at the site of the false mistvault to get the army of warbots into the months-old trench, knowing that those robots won’t be responsible for the bulk of the casualties, as many cybernukes were hidden between the many trench lines aswell, being ready to blast out enemies across a huge chunk of that thread into either ashes or the cold void below…

Darkblur - Dichorisare Bontopius, “The Swarm” - ER

  • Medium Mist-Aligned Omnivore, Controlled by Darkblur

Mutations: Targetting (Targets which species to slow down, success chance increased), Mistprotector X 2 (+2 to every statistic vs covenant members)
DBM: -

D. Bontopius swarms were busy developing new abilities this month, most importantly reinforcing the newly-acquired species slowdowns with selective targetting, being able to choose which species to prioritize, increasing the success rate of the slowdown actions on those species. This came in clutch as soon after being developed, a large group of wallcrabs raided all across swarmling-inhabited territories, not just adapting the advantagetaking mutation but infact taking it away completely from this species! After that, the swarms became invested in increasing their overall statistics against those of the species of the powerful covenant. As so, they became more devoted to protecting the mist forces than ever in the days leading up to their final demise, gaining some edges against the hostile species. Strangely enough, darkblur wasn’t present to aid this species this month, with some users again reporting it wandering around the forum, as if searching or waiting for something…
With the mistorb sending a SOS signal, all the swarms knew what they had to do, as they rushed to the source of the emergency call. When they arrived, they saw the entire trench system around the mistvault filled to the brim with hostile entities - warbots. The united swarms attempted to tear through these robots, getting closer and closer to the orb they thought lies inside the vault and getting increasingly deeper into the trench system…
While the mechanical beings weren’t able to truly harm the greatly protected swarmlings, this changed as a few dozen shockwaves from all around the trench system reached and vapourized the swarmlings - while they didn’t realize it, the entire setting was a trap! In just a second or two, from a healthy species remained no alive individuals, as D. Bontopius would go down in history as the last species loyal to the mist… But not the last non-mist entity to be allied to it.

@fralegend015 - Fabuloid Spiritusvivi, “Archmage” - HO

  • Small Omnivore, Species’ God in control of The Mistorb

Mutations: Vassalization Soul, Inject VS into the Mistorb (Results: See Mistorb Report)

Albeit the actions of the archmages and Deus were slowed down because of the swarm, it didn’t stop them from achieving what they wanted for who knows how long now: Putting a stop to the mist and it’s various forms. With help of the cat-beast brethen from the covenant alliance of species, Deus managed to create a soul which’s purpose is to allow this god to gain control over the Dark Orb now hidden in a PM thread. The next obvious step was to get the soul into the orb itself, that however required transporting the injector device into the PM and opening up the vault atop the orb. The later step, for the better or the worse, didn’t end up being needed in the end as the blob of matter detected 2 months ago near the top of the mysterious sphere finally breached the shell much like Darkblur did many months ago and escaped the PM before anyone, users or creatures, could do anything about it, leaving the mistorb exposed from above. Quickly enough the injector was lifted in position and the soul was, well, injected into the shape.
Deus, having built connections with the soul now inside the orb, could tell that it gained lots of control over the orb, now being able to give it orders of it’s own, but it seems like just telling the sphere to unaliven itself won’t work - despite being controlled, it still has goals of it’s own…

  • Small Herbivore + Parasite

Mutations: Mutavenom Upgrade (+1 Strenght), Mutasteal (Can steal other species’ mutations, tied to dice), Mutasteal D. Bontopius Hunt (5/6)
DM: Warbot Production

C. Venenatorum has improved greatly over the “mutavenom” it originally invented to persuade mistdom species from attacking the wallcrabs, with this feature now being able to be used in hunts for giving other species mutations, which might not be beneficial. An offshoot of the mutavenom, being called “Mutasteal” by the RC researcher users, is an another ability developed this month, which allows the side surface crustaceans not just to adapt mutations of other species, but infact even to remove those very mutations from the hunted species, through the chances of these hunts achieving their goals is not always 100%. Taking the shot, a large hunting party of C. Venenatorum formed with it’s goal being hunting the swarmligns for their Advantagetaking mutation before they “get exploded”, as Deus told the leaders of the wallcrab kin. The hunt did manage to succeed, with the feature allowing a species to hunt other ones if they only have 1 base statistic in advantage over the advantagetaking species, but a problem has arosen: There are no longer any hostile species present in the forum…
Amidst the feature being stolen, the previously mentioned Deus hired a bunch of wallcrabs alongside many crawlers for production of the warbot army needed to fool the mistdom forces when they attack the false mistvault, as per the plan. Those two groups from two species belonging to two different, ancient lineages worked in tandem as the robots were being assembled, part by part, until the entire army stood before the construction crews.

Round 51 - Year 4, Month 5

The few sightings of darkblur this month noted that the quick shape has became somewhat darker, making the figure within harder to see. MwTC took this is a new opportunity at promoting itself, however the exodus of users which formed new groups in the prior month doesn’t seem to be willing to return…

-9/10 HP (Regenerates 1 HP per Month[Round])
-Insanely fast, can scale hundreds of posts in seconds
-Appears to be a dark sphere with a figure of some sort inside the sphere
-Hasn’t shown off it’s offensive abilities (if it has any)
-The De Facto Leader of The (Compromised) Mistdom at the present

Mutations: Portal Techniques (+1 B Speed), Superior Flying Techniques (+1 F Speed)
DM: Warbot Factory

S. TeaKinges populace has found interest in the not-to-long-ago invented portal technology, in which many saw potential for use by the critters themselves. Researching deep into the ways hyperlinks and other teleporting objects serve their purpose, a team of crawling researchers finally broke the code, developing a way for individuals of the Sapiepoda kin to cast portals to locations within their line of sight. The technique however requires lots of experience and trials and errors before any warrior can master it. On the other hand, further refinements were made to the flying techniques thought to be perfected by this point, not to be beaten by any other species of the forum.
Both the crawlers and the wall crabs were given a mission by Deus to contruct a hidden factory of warbots, which would pump out those deadly machines without much aid of the creatures themselves. Knowing how important they were in eradicating the misty swarmlings, both species quickly sent construction teams to the place where the factory would soon enough start producing the combinations of Deuses and Darrenlings’ work.

Nd. Cogitandi have taken the, as they believe, gloriousmost metal to a next level, by using the powers of the said fabled metal so that the afflicted individuals are extra enriched in the holy ore. The purpose of these new improvements, however, is not to make the said specimens stronger, but to instead make them more aware about their surroundings. An another use found for the beloved metal is sucking in all and any liquids or gasses which stand in the way of the dividers. This new feature too widens the horizons the eyes of this creature can see to, as much metal was used to clear out some of the pollution the hot skies of the forum sustained through the years of creature evolution.
God of the archmages meanwhile ordered the group of the smartmost dividers and the smartest cat beasts to research the areas beyond the forum via the laboratory. While not necessarily reaching all the goals they wanted, the divider team has indeed reported that the ark program resulted in multiple forums beyond the Prosper one being populated by critters, however not much more has this group discovered.

@CatSquared - Multipoda Cat-Bestiae, “Cat Beasts” - ID

Mutations: Hunt Darkblur (2/6), Ark Program Investigation (6/6)
DM: Outside-the-forum research (5/6)

As the base species of M. Cat-Bestiae is still only residing in the safe haven of the Mistvault PM, The Devourer strived for doing something more important in name of the covenant in the days following D. Bontopiuses extinction. Noticing that Darkblur is still out in the wild, it decided to send a troop of the recently invented soul-powered machines in a hunt after the blur. However these efforts would go in vain, as even through these robots were much faster than their regular counterparts, the blur was still orders of magnitude faster than them, quickly evading any attacks and escaping the thread where it first encountered the mechanical division. In order to compensate for that, aswell as doing a task assigned to this species and the dividers by Deus itself, the Devourer chose himself a few members of the cult to work on research of extra-forumal areas. The results of this research would end up being a lot more groundbreaking than what the Neodichorisarid brethen have achieved with their own team. As it turns out, the ark program - descendant biotas seem to have developed many more species than the Prosper forum biota has ever been known to host, but it was too noticed that these species didn’t appear to be working in regular competitive environment, and instead they were noticed to be working together, despite them only being seeded a couple of months ago. Not only that, over three weeks of observation the cultist team concluded that those complex biotas are infact coming together, with estimated 3 months [ROUND 54] being given before the increasingly interlinking species fuse into one being, in all the observed forums beyond the Prosper one. It’s hard to say what will happen after the species have fused into one entity…

Mutations: Advanced Tanks (+1 Strenght), Drones (+1 Strenght)
DM: Checkpoint Turret Tech (+1 Strenght)

M. Narrenists, being inspired by many users interested in the militaries themselves, have constructed more familiar-looking tanks now roaming the forum. Those vehicles are pretty large in themselves, and so are mostly stored in the underground sections of the posts, with the hopes being that one day in a mighty fight they will be permitted for use. An another piece of warfare technology too adopted from the user’s home world were drones - those small, remotely controlled units, have cyberspace and soul technology fit inside, allowing a darrenling to control them via their very mind. For now they aren’t standing much above other types of military technology invented by the darren kin, but with new suggestions inflowing from the users, it’s only a matter of time before they become a lot more dangerous and prominent.
Meanwhile, Deus ordered the Paucipodal scientists to take a look at the checkpoints and have them reinforced. Using the tank technology developed this month, the researchers quickly enough adapted the tank turrents into more massive checkpoint defense turrets, which can boast a variety of weaponry, ranging from regular shells, by nuclear ones, all the way to releasing rockets and missiles. With enough turrets seated on a checkpoint, it surely looks and acts a lot more like an inconquerable fortress or tower…

  • Small Omnivore, Species’ God in control of The Mistorb

Mutations: Darkblur Info Request, New Laboratory Tools (+1 Stealth)

Now being in control of the dark, mistful orb, Deus requested it to give information on the mysterious blur which was released a couple of months ago now and appears to have turned into the leader of the mistdom after the vassalization. As the mistorb said, the blur was originally supposed to be an aid for when the orb would unleash itself in a final battle against the covenant, but to allow the blur to develop itself and survive until then, the mist gave it all the information it knew as of when it was released, with new information being given a month ago via the second blur which merged with the first. The orb also said the the blur should have developed a more physical form inside the “blur radius”, which indeed was already confirmed a month ago by some users which reported seeing a figure inside it. After this dialogue between the vassal and the suzerain, the god of the highest mages ordered new tools to be transported to the laboratory following the departure of the divider and the cat beast research teams from the large building sitting on a large post in the same PM where Deus talked to the orb.
The anti-mistworm upgraded itself once again, boosting the strenghts of the covenant species even more, with atleast 10% of their total strenght deriving from the light worm’s boosts in most of the covenant species.

@willow - Cancrorum Venenatorum, “Venomous Wall Crab” - HO

  • Small Herbivore + Parasite

Mutations: Organ Castes (+1 Strenght), GEM Cellwalls (+1 Strenght)
DM: Warbot Factory

C. Venenatorum managed to evolve three whole new castes, which together aid the hives of this species in their functioning in the sides and inside the posts: The bone caste, which allows for way faster bone growth in other members of the hive and where bones are needed for construction, the sensory caste, which replaces the sensory organs of the wallcrabs, allowing them to spend their resources into developing other parts of their bodies, becoming stronger as a result, and the digestion caste, which allows the former two to develop properly, as itself they can’t really digest foods and so need external help. The harder celltypes of the Venenatorums have also completely replaced their mineral composition with pure GEM, which is acquired from the divider brethen from the covenant, allowing those two related species to both share the benefit of having GEM implants inside their flesh.
Following the annihilation of the entire warbot army in the rather successful swarmling extinction attempt, Deus ordered both the wallcrabs and the crawlings to work together on creating an automated factory for producing warbots. Two species of long-diverged lineages worked together, with the end result being a hidden-underground but constantly-working warbots production plant, which will supply fresh warbot forces to the entire forum in the times yet to come…
