Im pretty sure that being humanoid isnt a required trait for sentienceโฆ at best it looks like you require a social creature with โhandsโ and fine motor controls capable of constructing tools and utelizing fire in order to move onto civilization.

such species might have the same capabilities as humans, other than higher speed and energy consumption, they will with 100% certainty evolve from six-legged fish, so most of the creatures around them will be six-legged too.
