THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

The what?
What happened now?

Nothing happened. There just are days that one might expect to exist in a calendar, but they just donโ€™t exist, and as such nothing could have happened during those days that do not exist.

No, it still exists.
Edit: Try searching for โ€œanti-funโ€.

No, youโ€™re talking about AI rights. Iโ€™m talking about when they were speaking of Neko cat girl rights ().

I though that those were the same argumentโ€ฆ I have either forgotten or didnโ€™t even see such โ€œCatGirl Rightsโ€ threadโ€ฆ

Add catgirls as a premade species to thrive

you could add them as a player-made creation once macroscopic is fully out

Aaaaahhโ€ฆ It just hit meโ€ฆ In macroscopic gameplay, Thrive could allow for creation of absolutely horrid beings by both the player and auto-evoโ€ฆ
โ€ฆIn the future, someone will probably write a creepypasta about thatโ€ฆ

include ascension perks that break the laws of physics or can compress space and you could make an eldritch horror that can shapeshift and just compresses the mass it isnโ€™t using, animals that can survive for decades without food after a big enough feast, and sparrow sized nuclear fusion/fission engines that go from planet to planet, crashing into the ground or blowing up in the atmosphere, rapidly decompressing to the size of a house upon death and containing a fully established ecosystem that only depends on the organism it was in for transportation and is adaptable enough to survive on any planet with the necessary elements for carbon based life, a tree that has bark with a tonne of nitroglycerin thatโ€™s fully saturated with oxygen in each square meter of its bark so anything that tries to eat it gets absolutely obliterated, and the tree only doesnโ€™t explode into smithereens every time an ant bites it too hard because the nitroglycerin is contained in cells with extremely thick silica walls everywhere except the outside of the tree to direct the explosion directly out.

Iโ€™m evil! :smiling_imp:

I wrote one just now (small gore warning)

I have always been attracted to the concept of Thrive. I wasnโ€™t able to buy spore, and when I found out that a realistic evolution game was being developed, and that it would be free, I was amazed.
At that time, Thrive was not very popular. I donโ€™t judge, not everyone likes to design a cell and make it walk around on the ocean floor. Anyway, that was just any Saturday. I opened the community forum, and nothing new other than a few posts on a game forum that I donโ€™t participate. I noticed in the โ€œlatest announcementsโ€ section of the homepage that there was a new progress update.

II thought "oh cool, maybe they show some macroscopic sneak peek and clicked on the link. Thatโ€™s when things started to get weird. The person who had made the post was not the forum bot, but one of the developers.
โ€œMaybe itโ€™s something bigโ€ I thought.
The post said there was a new Devbuild, but for some reason, it wasnโ€™t exclusive to Patreon subscribers. I found that confusing, after all, Patreon was the only source of money that devs received, besides the Steam version. Allowing everyone to have the privileges that subscribers had was not a very smart option, thatโ€™s what I thought.
Apparently, that was a โ€œtest versionโ€ and thatโ€™s why they released it to the general public, to โ€œfind bugs before officially releasing it.โ€
I quickly took a look at what was new, and in addition to several bugfixes, there were also several new additions to the multicellular stage that were made in the last few months. That excited me, the game I always dreamed of was finally taking shape! At least I thought I would like it at the time. I instantly downloaded the version and noticed something else that was at least unusual: It was a .zip file. All test versions were .rar, like 0.6.4 or 0.7.1, but that one was a .zip. I extracted the folder and opened the game. The cutscene when you turn on the game looked slightly different, something I canโ€™t describe, but I felt like they changed something. Anyway, I started a new game and tried to get to the multicellular stage as quickly as possible. Something interesting I noticed was that the other cells ran away from mine faster and more frequently, even though I was a simple herbivore. I assumed it would be some update to the cell AI and moved on. After two hours, it was already getting dark and I managed to enter the macrocellular. The first, and most obvious thing I noticed was that it was empty. Very empty. Yes, there were algae, some zooplaktons that I could eat, some tricolor corals but there was no music (maybe it hadnโ€™t been made yet?), or other animals (are we the first?). The environment was incredibly sterile, and the eerie atmosphere made me feel slightly nervous.

I tried to continue playing normally, but I couldnโ€™t help but think there was something wrong with it. It was as if something, or someone, was watching me.
Opening the editors was always a relief. Suddenly there was music, sounds and a little life as I edited my specimen. I took a deep breath, and went back to the game. It was already dark outside, and I had lost track of time. I looked at the windows clock and it was already 10 oโ€™clock. Before going to bed, I decided to at least try to evolve eyes. A goal, something silly to distract myself from that bizarre atmosphere. I opened the patch map and saw something called โ€œmegaoceanic riftโ€ and just to see if it was all the maps that looked like that. When the game loaded, I felt goosebumps. That place was almost pitch black, and I could only see a few rays of sunlight above me, probably kilometers above. I looked around, and saw a blue triangle, which indicated that there was a creature nearby. I froze. That belgium was getting closer to me, and fast. I started sweating while running away from that belgiumed being. I ran away for minutes, my focus was completely on the game, but then I was trapped. All I could do was watch. First I saw two white eyes, and then five more red eyes. The creature was going faster, and faster, I saw its mouth, disproportionate to its body, with teeth that looked human, in fact, that whole creature was terribly human. its fins looked like gray arms, its scales looked like black hair. And then, she stopped in front of me. At that time I panicked. I tried Alt f4 obsessively, I tried to minimize the window, I tried to turn off the computer. But NOTHING WORKED. I tried to move away from the screen, but the creatureโ€™s eyes drew me back. It felt like that belgium was hypnotizing me in real life. โ€œI wish it didnโ€™t have eyesโ€ I wished. And then. The creature opened its white eyes.

They were human eyes.

And then, it devoured me. I saw each graphic instance of my creature being torn apart by its teeth, and it was so real, it was as if I felt it in my body. I never ate fish again after that.

I was shaking. My computer shut down and I went to bed, shaking. I thought I wouldnโ€™t be able to sleep because it wouldnโ€™t get out of my head no matter how much I tried to avoid it. However, I fell asleep. As in I wish I had stayed awake, because what I saw was more terrifying than the game.
The dream started with me tied to a chair underwater, everything was insanely red for no reason. The floor was covered in guts and I was drowning. And then the creaturehe appeared. It seemed to be somewhere around 300 meters. It smiled at me and said

โ€œAre you feeling dead yet?โ€

And then I woke up.
I had to change my clothes because I sweated so much in my pajamas after that nightmare.

It was already morning outside, and I turned on my computer. Iโ€™ve never put a folder in recycle bin so fast as I did with that one. Iโ€™m now asking here if anyone else had something similar in this version. Iโ€™m not joking, if it were a joke Iโ€™d be laughing. This happened and left me extremely traumatized. If anyone can tell me what happened, Iโ€™d be grateful.

Iโ€™d recommend sharing the logs from the instance of game with developer team for further inspection.

Joke.

Edit:
These forum games are quite cool, nice lore etc.

Can others check checkboxes I post or only I can?

I will check this
Someone else may check this if they are able to

Iโ€™m in ck3 playing as the crusader-empire of Mali, and my rulerโ€™s heir is my ninth child after eight daughters. My ruler is also the ninth child after eight daughters.

Ninth son of a ninth son?

What about a seventh son of a seventh son?

Why would someone private specific games from their library?

I still hate you, Tim Sweeney.

Iโ€™m sure Nigel knows why after he caught me in 4k.

Nigel tracked down your steam account?

No. It was two ninth sons after eight daughters.

Anyways the first ninth son forged an entire empire out of West Africa (largest de jure realm in the world), singlehandedly won five crusades, brought the entirety of Western Europe and the Middle East under the control of his dynasty, abolished the Saharan slave trade, got canonized as a living saint, jumpstarted the renaissance, and transformed Niani from an oddly wealthy backwater into literally a second Rome. All in between inheriting the throne as a five year old and dying at the age of 100. He was also remembered for nearly emptying his coffers numerous times in architectural investments for the development of Southern Mali.

His ninth son won a the first World War and killed all of his traitorous vassals before dying of a heart attack about a decade later.

So I guess thatโ€™s how the ninth son of a ninth son works.

in discord, if someone links their steam account ( i think ) you can see what games theyre playing. so i saw it on discord.
not sure how its works tho

Is the forums powered by money from donators?

Nothing is powered by donations as we havenโ€™t accepted any since 2021 (due to legal reasons: Money and Thrive - Thrive Developer Wiki). But the Patreon and Steam sales are covering the running costs of the association and that includes all the web hosting (except domain names and s3 storage for now as I just havenโ€™t had time to move those to be paid by the association). So you could say that yes the forums are running on a server paid for by money from โ€œdonations.โ€
