THE NEW Miscellaneous Talk That Doesn't Deserve A New Thread Thread Thread (Part 2)

Speaking of Valve, the Steam summer sale has arrived! There’s a discount on the Steam Deck. I think I might buy one.

Yes and no

in this timeline, yes im a planet

in my timeline, long story but anyways now there is a planet 40 light-years from Earth called Benedict.

So that means that this pfp’s body is the size of a planetary body…

yes

Unrelated but after I made the jose’s worldbuilding system in spaceengine I got the hang of it, does anyone have any other systems that you guys would like me to make?

Narrator: I am a God! I have no master!
Null: Nope, you’re in reality now so you’re my slave.
Narrator: Yes, you are right. I am inferior to you and you are my master.

  1. What!? Windows 11 going to the Cloud!? Now, you have lost all my respect, Microsoft. There is no way I’ll ever use a cloud service. Not even for gaming. I will also never pay monthly for a device that is actually my property. Going to Linux next year.
  2. Like I care. I’m certainly not going to play Starfield but this is certainly concerning.
  3. Upgrade your raytracing AMD! You can become the Ryzen of GPUs!

opera GX, it’s technically a derivative of opera but it runs far smoother, you should use a VPN like trustzone if you use any browser though

Isn’t this wrong? Didn’t Opera also just give up and switch to Chromium?

So actually that poll just has 2 options: Firefox and Chrome + Derivatives.

What about Brave? Also, why do some people think that Brave is better than Firefox?

Brave is also just a variant of Chrome (based on chromium project). With the addition of an inbuilt adblocker and the ability to have your browsing data be used to advertise to you but with the twist that you get some of that money yourself. So basically I guess some people want a less good browsing experience in exchange for a pittance of money (I assume, I don’t know how much you actually get per month). I’d wager a guess that the same kind of people who fill out online surveys etc. that give you a tiny bit of money, would also be interested in using Brave.

So it’s not THAT privacy focused. Hmm…

I think it’s quite clear what the direction the Brave browser makers want to go. So even if the questionable features are opt-in currently, I wouldn’t consider using it at all and I think the people who use the browser because of this are too naive.

Some choice quotes from Wikipedia:

Brave is a privacy-focused browser, which automatically blocks some advertisements and website trackers in its default settings. Users can turn on optional ads that reward them for their attention in the form of Basic Attention Tokens (BAT), which can be used as a cryptocurrency or to make payments to registered websites and content creators.[4][5]

Since April 2019, users of the Brave browser can opt in to the Brave Rewards feature. Users can earn BAT by viewing advertisements that are displayed as notifications by the operating system of their computer or device or as a native pop-up window. Advertising campaigns are matched with users by inference from their browsing history; this targeting is carried out locally, with no transmission of personally identifiable data outside the browser.[32]

On 6 June 2020, a Twitter user pointed out that Brave inserts affiliate referral codes when users navigate to Binance.[41][42] Further research revealed that Brave also redirected the URLs of other cryptocurrency exchange websites. In response to the backlash from the users, Brave’s CEO apologized and called it a “mistake” and said “we’re correcting”.

I’m sure that was a mistake and won’t happen again in the future once they think users have forgotten or they come up with some other way to make money that might be less offensive to users.

Would you rather spend five days sick with the flu, or spend five seconds with all of the pain sickness and discomfort you would have felt over those five days all at once.

all at once
its 5 seconds
not forever
and i wont have to suffer from it afterward

5 seconds of agonizing pain is better than 5 days of extreme inconvenience

Even though those five seconds would be extremely uncomfortable, they would pass rather quickly, which is much better than being bedridden for 5 days.

The opposite is better. I’d spread the pain and suffering into 5000 days and end up feeling nothing noticable.

If this isn’t allowed I choose 5 seconds.

Bro really wanted to have the flu for 13 years

I would rather not choose either of those options as they are both terrible.

H E C H O S E T O B E C O M E T H E U L T I M A T E S U P E R S P R E A D E R

If you chose neither option you get the hyper-condensed version but for five days instead of five seconds.
