@OmnipotentFNarr next round?

Need I remind you of this?

WE DON’T CARE DO THE ROUND ALREADY!!!
jk take your time.

Story

A new age is approaching, the age of civilization. Humanity is developing all around the globe at its own pace, in its own way. While some may build a trading empire, others may instead engage in warfare to expand, or others may concentrate on research and technology. However they decide to develop, cultures are starting to construct, and nations are straying further away from uniformity.

Phoenicia

Leader: Tekis

Actions: [27] Division of Labour, [27] Currency
Result: 15/20 -4 = 11/20, 18/20 -4 = 14/20
As the village grows bigger and more and more technology is discovered, it becomes increasingly difficult for the common villager to learn every skill. So what happened is that people started to speclialise in a single skill that they excelled at, which corresponds with their job. Employed villagers will now have a bonus of +1 per group of people when performing their skill in accordance to the groups of people involved. Since there are no jobs right now, population doesn’t increase, but it will once you assign jobs to your villagers.

Trading goods are cumbersome to transport to the market, so you had to come up with a solution. What you came up with is a system using seashells that are carved with intricate designs which are used as a currency to trade with other people at a fixed value (they’re shells and not coins because you can’t forge yet). This means that trading rolls will get a +2 and if the other party involved also has currency, it’ll be +5.

Hellenes

Leader: Tiresias

Actions: [Global] Armour
Result: 15/20 +2 = 17/20
To pair with your new shields, your tribe feels they should use their new metalworking to produce better protective gear. So they forge cuirasses and helmets out of the copper to form basic armour. Paired with the shields, this will give +3 to combat rolls.

Also, you were visited by the Laestrygonian traders. These merchants traded goods, which increases your population, and even shared the idea of division of labour with you. In exchange, you showed them how to make copper armour. This means that now, people with jobs can give a bonus to the roll, the bonus depending on how many groups of people with jobs relevant to the roll there are, and you will get an increase in population once you assign jobs to your people.

Laestrygonians

Leader: Orko

Actions: [25] Sod House, [31 (30 Traders)] Expedition to the South, [30 (Goatherds)] Cheese, [8 (7 farmers)] Fertilization
Result: 20/20! -7 = 13/20, 13/20 -6 +3 +4 = 14/20, 8/20 -6 +3 = 5/20, 15/20 -8 = 7/20
You task your fishermen to find a more permanent form of housing because the tents were too small to be practical for the increasingly bigger equipment, so they get to work. As per your specifications, they use the rolling hills around them to their advantage and build sod houses, digging and packing dirt in the hills and using the grass as roofs. This new house type is very cheap and easy to make and it can also be very spacious, which gives you more population. You are now a proper sedentary village.

Your merchants set off to the South, where they discover a big sea. Cruising the coast, they eventually come across Greek Isles and discover the Hellenes. They are a pretty special tribe with practices some find peculiar, so their initial reputation would have been chilly, had it not been for the charisma of the Laestrygonian merchants. They trade and banter, sharing ideas and goods. After chatting about the benefits of assigning different jobs to people, the Hellenes adopt the idea of division of labour, seeing it as more advantageous than knowing everything. As a reward, they teach your people how to cast armour out of copper. When your traders came home, they shared the good news with the village. Then, they tried to see if they could make the same armour using their more durable bronze. They succeed, which means you now have bronze armour, giving +4 to combat rolls.

In addition to harvesting wool, the goatherds also collect the goats’ milk. One of those goatherds once left a jar of goat milk in a shed and found it later solidifying a little. Thinking it was spoiled, he threw it away, unbeknownst that it was actually cheese.

Your farmers wondered if there was any way to speed up crop production, but they could not find any.

Congratulations, you now have enough population to build a second village.

Bananarama

Actions: [Global] Religion, [Global] Writing
Result: 10/20 +3 = 13/20, 11/20
You attribute your newfound prosperity to your new religion, Potassism. I can’t develop this any further because I don’t have any details. Feel free to fill in the blanks.

Your village is getting harder to manage by memory, so you ponder on ways to keep thoughts permanently. You come up with a writing system which help develop new technologies, giving +2 to research rolls.

I also forgot to mention that the rhinos give +2 to combat rolls.

It was time to specialise, because it was getting too hard for everyone to master every new technology. That is why your government is imposing division of labour to the village. This gives a bonus of +1 per group of people affiliated with the roll they have a job in. This efficiency would give more population, but since you don’t have any jobs assigned yet, the population will increase when you have jobs.

The clay you find near rivers is very easy to mould, and when you realsed in hardened when it dried, you decided to make containers with them. Not stopping there, you personalise them with your own designs and engrave details in them to make them truly original. These containers protect food from pests and preserves them longer, which increases your population.

Leader: Montezuma

Actions: [30] Adobe Houses, [22] Beehives
Result: 19/20 -3 +2 +2 = 20/20!, 17/20 -5 = 12/20
It was time to upgrade the flimsy tents your people use, so you start building houses using adobe bricks. These houses prove to be very solid and can be very spacious, which increases your population. Plus, using some spare adobe, you make some heavy pottery, which you use to store food and make it last longer, increasing your population once again.

You build some beehives for your honeybees. This proves to be very useful, because the bees also pollinate your crops, which makes them grow faster, increasing your population.

Actions: [Global] Improve Forge, [Global] Improve weapons
Result: 10/20 +2 = 12/20, 13/20 +2 =15/20
Your forges need increased power if you wanted to access better gear, so you gave them an upgrade. You achieved higher temperatures by building the fire in a pit and surrounding it with hardened clay, which helped insulate the the fire and keep it hot. Now, your furnace is can melt even stronger metals.

You decided to upgrade your weapons using your new copper technology. While slightly crude, the scimitars you ended up designing were still sharp and deadly. Combined with the longbows, they give +4 to combat rolls.

Thanks, I always mess em up:D

I want my village to be divided like this:

  • 17 - Fishing - Fish The Fish For Food
  • 16 - Farming - Farms The Farm For Food
  • 8 - Gatherers- Gathers Material For Building And For Other Jobs
  • 8 - Builders - Repairs And Builds Buildings And Tools
  • 9 - Philosophers - Research Technology
  • 4 - Hunters - Hunt The Animal For Meat and Other Stuff
  • 4 - General - General Laborers

For My Actions I Want:

[9 Philosophers + 4 Hunters + 16 Farmers] Action: Research Animal Husbandry And Try To Domesticate Some Animals

[8 Gatherers + 8 Builders + 4 Gererals] Action 2: Build A Storehouse To Store Extra Food And Materials

[17 Fishers] Action 3: Discover A Better Way To Fish

Do Actions Happen Before A Village Is Attack?
Like For Example If I Research A Better Defenses And Someone Attacks Me On That Same Round Which Action Happens First?

10 fisherman build soddies on the isle of Guernsey for easy access to the channel for fishing. This will be the village of Xirimiri, and 10 new fishers will take their place on the mainland. I’m assuming that counts as an action for the fishermen. The other 5 new citizens become farmers, because although Laestrygonians aren’t inclined to such a sedentary pursuit as traders it’s proving very practical.

Another turn another expedition. Time for the traders to revisit Phoenicia and trade better furnaces for currency.

Farmers and goatherds work on cheese some more. In their defense that milk did spoil, they just need to give the chunks a taste anyway.

  • [Upgrade] 27 Britons research on iron weapons (sword, battle axe, bow & metal arrows)
  • 27 Britons research on brand new iron tools (axe, pickaxe, hammer, hoe, fishing rod)
Note: For the iron tools, @OmnipotentFNarr, if you don’t find it fair to invent all these, you may choose only some of them instead. As for the weapons, they are upgrades to the current weapons loadout.

I forgot to show the jobs of everyone in my action post, so now I added it, make sure to see it omni. I also changed my action.

Events always happen after the result phase, so if you research something and you are attacked, the result of the research comes into effect before the attack.

Oh, and one healer goes with the traders while the other helps with cheese.

Now, you’ve taken an island that is British in real life. But since it’s only an island, I don’t really care about it. Just don’t make a village in Britain, ok? It’d ruin my research path and my plan.

Anyway…

I’ll add jobs and division of labour when I’m done with basic iron technology. Sorry for my delay guys. I know most of you already have a second village.

EDIT: Speaking of jobs, @OmnipotentFNarr, how many jobs can I assign as division of labour in a single action?

Division of labour is the action, you can assign as many jobs as you want at any time.
