Thrive Court (v1)

Welcome to Thrive court. Have you ever had a discussion that needed to be resolved incrementally? What about a looming question about societies submerged and metals melting? Look no further than Thrive Court Version One.

The second post will be reserved for any updates, like new rules or links to other things similar to Thrive Court.

Our rules at the start are:

  1. No serious discussion. This is a game
  2. Arguments must be iterations on a previously mentioned argument. This is a game about incremental adaptation, after all. If it is not obvious what you are referencing, link it in your message as a citation.
  3. Our starting argument is: “I agree in part.”
  4. You may change arguments only by one word at a time. If you remove one word, or add one word, or swap one word, that is all you can do. You can keep an argument and reiterate it in a new context, though.

Let the court, decide!

Second post reserved.

I think you didn’t need the second post? You can edit the thread-making post just fine.

That would depend on how long they intend for those two posts to eventually reach.

It does take a good while to get to 32K characters from my experience, unless the links take up much more space than anticipated

What made you return after seemingly 2 whole years?

1.0.0 I can assume, it was a pretty important release

sure but it does do a different function from the main post. i was sort of thinking that i never need to edit the main post and all updates will be contained to the second post

I think I am back because of 1.0.0, but it’s hard to tell when or why things come back into your memory.

Eh honestly I don’t think the FG would last long enough to survive until the first post runs out of space

this game is up to the public to run, anyone can start a discussion here following the rules even five years from now. the two post thing probably isnt needed but it has been done lol. i come from another forum where people always had like a multipost system, so it makes sense to me

I tried a similar thing before, it died pretty fast

we will see
this one is very simple

Similarly did I think…

please phrase any new arguments in the form according to the rules in the first post

I would not suggest mentioning underwater civ discourse in a discussion thread, it could reduce it’s lifespan by quite the bit

please follow the rules in the main post or use direct messages

Then I will “begin” with “I disagree in part”. Your turn now?

what are you disagreeing with in part?

The notion that sentient plant civs are plausible

I disagree in theory

this is my counterargument

edit: keep in mind though any serious use of this forum topic is against the rules of the game
