Brains are more efficient than computers in terms of how much computation it does for a given energy, the only problem with putting brains in jars is ethics. But it is possible to do morally bad things and not thinking about it much. Or thinking about it and liking it. It is not a nice feeling living with cognitive dissonance, so if you are born in a world that practices slavery, you might as well try to enjoy it and engage in it yourself because history wouldn’t remember you for your sins as long as you aren’t the worst perpetrator.

The problem with slavery is the mental feeling that you can’t pursue your dreams and get to a better position or a niche position in a free market. If you just give your slaves some drugs, and they decide to not care about what they would have felt without drugs, then everyone is fine. I tried to say something controversial but I guess it wasn’t relevant to the topic.

the world ends. 682 becomes an immortal gasseous entity that converts people into mini 682s with the weapons and sensory organs of a cat, and it escapes by going out a crack, vent, or door. it’s already past the insanity threshold for becoming a stage 6 8610 instance. TLDR: prevent it at all costs unless in a space station where 682 cannot escape from.
however, if you process a strain of 8610 through 999, you might get a strain of 8610 that gives you the emotional effects of 999 and allows 999 telepathic communication with you so it can keep you happy, and instead of turning into an 8610-4 instance, you could turn into a version of 999 colored like your hair was and with cat ears, and if you bite someone who bears malicious intent towards you, they would likely get factory reset and turned into the same type of entity as you, but with the mental state of a newborn 8610-2 instance. factory resetting would keep their anomalous properties they were born with while losing ones caused by learning things, as the ‘factory state’ of an organism is what its DNA dictates it should look like.
