We are quickly approaching the time in which we will begin to add in Achievements (the 0.9.x releases) and while we have plenty of proposed Achievements, they have not been organized into any form that would be useful yet for the developers to make use of. We need to start the process of choosing which achievements will be best to put into the Microbe stage and I think the best way to start off this process is for the community members to post what they think the best options for achievements are.
To begin with, we might decide to begin with a small selection of achievements, so expect to have maybe only the best 10 achievements initially. We can plan for adding more once the Achievement selection process progresses further. The number of Achievements will also depend on how well the different Achievements complement and build on each other.
Your proposal should not only consider the individual Achievements on their own, but how they all complement each other; for example by having ascending difficulties, or focusing on a good spread of scenarios across the game.
Note that we are only considering achievements that will be doable at the release of 1.0, so only select achievements that would be doable in the game as it currently is, or is expected to be done based on the 1.0 roadmap. Also, we are only focusing on the Microbe stage Achievements right now, we can get to the multicellular achievements at a later time.

I think some microbe achievements from this thread could work at the present, as long as they’re easy enough to code in.
The reason why I said we’d add 10 microbe achievements. Is that each stage deserves to have at least that many achievements. So by the game is done we’ll have 90 achievements. And I really don’t want to remove any achievements later if we overload the microbe stage with them. Imagine being a player and reaching 50% achievement completion but then getting stuck and the answer being that you need to create a time machine to be able to get 100% achievements.

Thrivium Perfectium - Survive 20 (or what we chose it to be) generations without evolving Primium Thrivium. (Current chosen mascot for the microbe stage according to myself and Gamedungeon)

Just how difficult should be the hardest achievement for now?
I think this is probably too much of a niche achievement to be included. It would mean that we are putting an achievement in the game specifically about not doing half of the game.
I’ve been thinking to add a little achievement about not doing any changes for one generation as that’s a valid gameplay strategy and I think all achievements to be considered need to be about introducing the player trying to unlock them all to all the different Thrive gameplay strategies and aspects there are.
I think the number of generations without any changes is a good calibration point for how difficult for we want the achievements to be. (Not that they all need to be at the same difficulty).
I would say that 1 generation might be too easy, and many players would get it without having to work much for it. 20 Generations on the other hand is really a lot for microbe stage.
I am not sure where I would place the achievement because I don’t know how difficult they should be either, but I might guess 3 generations is a good number. Once could be an accident, twice could be a coincidence, but three times would require some effort, or someone who is just happy with their organism.

Probably at the end of their playthrough if they decided to disable the prototypes…
This one is a must have for sure. Along with becoming multicellular and other progression related achievements
Your species having perfect tolerance to an environment is my suggestion, with all tolerances being as small as they can. “Perfectly adapted organism”
I was thinking that it might be too fine-grained for each small step to be given an achievement, but I suppose nucleus is big enough to warrant it giving an achievement. After all if you were to split microbe stage in two it would be bacterial stage and eukaryotic stage.
