Best Ideas for Microbe Stage Achievements

That is a good start, I would add in: “Survive X number of generations without evolving” and the “Unlock an organelle via endosymbiosis” ones.

I think you forgot that I added 3 in my post above here, making it like at least 6/10 This is assuming, of course, that it is decided to add all of achievements mentioned in this thread.

I think those were the more ‘basic’ ones, as the others will need more decisions involved with selecting. Like with the ‘Radioactive’ achievement, I do like that achievement and think that it should be included, but it should be grouped separately so that we can compare the potential ones. (For organizational purposes)

Can we still post more achievement in this thread that are not microbe related, such as those related to planet generation?

I think it would be best to keep this discussion focused. This thread is best for other discussion: Achievements

(If you have come up with an achievement idea that is for 1.0 release, but doesn’t have to do with the microbe stage, then I am not sure how that would work if that is what you are suggesting…)

I can assume the official achievement lists for the following stages will only be made when they near completion?

There is little point doing it now for anything that isn’t already fairly well developed, though I could see preliminary multicellular achievements discussion being useful. I don’t think we would add in any multicellular achievements for 1.0 though, even if it got a bit more developed than now before 1.0, as we would want to focus the initial achievements on the one stage.

Well, besides the one achievement for becoming multicellular

I was saying that threads like this one but for those stages would start when the development of these stages starts to conclude (so for instance industrial achievements best ideas thread would be made when Industrial is close to completion).

Oh. I was under the assumption that Ice Ages, which are planned for 0.8.2.0 as part of Planet Generation update, would also affect the Microbe stage.

I think that 'Microbe Stage Achivements" are the ones that occur during microbe stage, so an ice-age would naturally apply to this list, if you have a good achivement for it. If it is something like “Survive an unusually harsh ice age” or something

Does that one work? Or maybe this one by Spore123?

This is exactly why I want to focus on simple achievements to start off with so that there isn’t a ton of complex state that needs to be tracked related to the achievements.

Can we include anaerobic and aerobic achievements, as long as they are simple enough?

I like this one, though if this is too easy or we want more challenging achievements we could change it to becoming Multicellular instead of just Eukaryotic

So the listed achievements may be modified by the devs if needed to better suit the game? It makes sense to me.

I really mean ‘we’ as being us in this thread trying to come to a consensus on what the best set of Achivements are, and taking into consideration a good spread of difficulty will require us to tune certain achievements to be difficult, and others easier.

But final balancing of achievements will have to be done by the devs. I am imagining that the first release of 0.9 with achievements in them will be a test-run of sorts, and that they could have an in-game output instead of steam integration initially, so that we can tune achievements before having them permanently unlocked with Steam.

Ah. So there should some achievements that are easier, while some are more challenging. :+1:

Could we get an achievement for hosting every organelle and cellpart at the same time?

A “Grab Bag Organism” or “jack of all trades” achievement sounds fun. I think that with most of these type of achievements we should require the organism to survive a game editor cycle so that you can’t just make an organism that doesn’t work but still gets you the achievement.
