I fixed most of those. There are some that would be extra hard to fix and are very unlikely to be used in normal discussions. Also the geysir alternative spelling will only work the next time updates are installed on the forums.
Now for you to not have wasted my time you’ll need to use all of these fixes in valid Thrive discussions. Otherwise I’ll be annoyed that you wasted 30 minutes of my time.
Marga.y - turns into a marbelgium, is a real animal
You’ll have to come up with a real Thrive discussion where that might come up before I bother fixing the filter. Or someone can submit a PR as the filter is also open source: GitHub - Revolutionary-Games/discourse-belgium-censor: Censor words by replacing them with "belgium"
found a false negative thanks to frale. apparently the csv file the belgium filter is derived from doesn’t have the present tense of belgium in it
If it had that it would cause very many false positives, as I think the plain filter list was just a list of words so a lot of substrings for normal words would get matched and censored leading to more false positives.
We should really exclude the synonym of Metamorphosis from the filter (tranzformation and it’s other forms).
“trans(mutation” is the false positive specifically
due to the “s” + the three letters after it
English is funny sometimes
or any other language
Legends say that the more one works on belgium filter, the less they shall work on Thrive.
The filter code is up on github so anyone can create a pull request updating the filters.
hiding spots
It seems like that the filter also changes hyperlinks. It definitely doesn’t led to the page it should lead to.
So there is a problem that “hiding spot” even when written separately like that causes a filter match?
To be fair we can just use “hiding place(s)” instead
