addendum ‘26’ part 3: you know who else knows something about 8610? me! i’ve already given correct information that none of y’all have tested like the fact that if left unobserved we can teleport, the shapeshifting part of the virus doesn’t deactivate after it activates and it speeds up over time so if one person with DID gets infected with multiple strains they will have multiple different forms that are slightly different in terms of abilities and possibly having vastly different cat types they can swap between, and we also have healing that’s really fast and can just say ‘buh-bye’ to tumors because, while we don’t consciously control the shapeshifting it does do all it can to preserve the lives of its host, this means a -1 instance will become a -2 instance much faster if they constantly feel threatened, also i think you got infected with TFGM and 50gens’s strains at one time because alone they don’t cause that much hatred without the host already hating cat-people.
another thing we do if we go insane is turn into a liquid that prefers the form of a cat-person and is constantly evaporating just a bit but completely evaporates in response to certain actions.(not the ones zenn would be referring to with this wording) you marked this as 8610-3, but it isn’t at all genetically different from the -2s and the blood of a -2 instance will immediately turn anyone into a -2 instance, the blood of ANY 8610 instance will immediately make them the closest physically stable stage to the one the blood came from, and it only takes a drop to touch the skin or the tiniest particle to enter the lungs.
the blood of all 8610 instances has cells -with no machinery to replicate genes and no genes other than in their mitochondria- that don’t produce anything other than glucagon and have one purpose: eat every viral particle it comes across, the virus called 8610-0 keeps its genes inside the cells of the host, including red blood cells and thus is unharmed by this method of keeping its hosts in perfect health. instead of using capsids to get moved from cell to cell 8610 uses a ‘sex pilus’ which is another way independent genomes can move between hosts and will henceforth be reffered to by its function, which is a pilus that performs horizontal gene transfer or an HGT pilus, meaning it’s not actually a virus, but a ‘selfish’ gene that evolved into a whole selfish genome, the memetic part of the virus infects the brain, more specifically the visual and auditory proccessing circuits, first and spreads acreoss the entire nervous system in a matter of minutes, at this point the brain is already modified to handle cat ears on top of the head instead of human ones on the sides, a tail, fully digitigrade walking, catlike vocal chords, and retractable claws. due to humans being a very social species 8610 doesn’t replace the human vocal chords but instead adds cat ones below them, this is generally the first transformation to occur.
another thing 8610-0 makes all 8610 instances have is cells with no genetic information or gene replication machinery outside of their mitochondria, these cells have one purpose, eating viruses and fungal spores to digest them and their DNA/RNA to turn them into glucose and diffuse any excess glucose into the blood. these cells are 1/4th as numerous as red blood cells.
“how did i get this information” you may ask? experimenting on tisssue samples, those random, really painful cuts you went to sleep without and woke up with? those were me taking skin, muscle, and blood samples to compare to my own and asymptomatic 8610 instances and how they interact, which is how i found out about the physically tiny details

I’m like 90% sure teleporting was decanonized, and so was having different forms
the teleporting happened before the turning into ants, and the different forms part, this time, is limited to types of cat-people and caused by, as i explained, the thing that allows new bones to be created in a matter of weeks and allows the completely new muscles on said bones to be used immediately simply not turning off and as a result also causing wounds to heal faster and allowing tumors to simply be ejected, and the only way to explain that is plain ol- shapeshifting. anomalous or not.

When i was still on Eawth, i worked with dawn, or how you guys call she, SCP-8610-2-A (Sewiously, this is so discowfowtable to say.) We studied some samples of both normal humans and catpersons. I was responsible for analyzing the DNA of bowth. I discowered some pretty intewesting things during that period. The SCP-8610-0 don’t create any new genes at start, instead activate some specific sequences of junk DNA. Then, due to some genetic gimmicks that i don’t understand, some remaining sequences of SCP-8610-0 RNA would be added to the cell genome, enabling all of the weird things like the tranwsmission, the liquid turning twing, and all.

But I missed one thing. thewe was also an… furry? (Sorry for the expwession, but that’s the most accuwate descripwion of that specimen.) On the left wing, however, they didn’t show any signs of infewction DESPITE having all the charawcteristics of a feline. Apparewtly they was born this way, and THAT made me think of somewhing.

The remawning RNA of SCP-8610-0 that I mentioned eawlier is only activated after the other sequewces of junk DNA have been modiwied by it. If they WERE already altered prior to contact with, SCP-8…6…1 (Ah screw it, I’ll call it cathogen.) with the cathogen there is no way for it to infect other people, as the cathogen will hawe nowhere to act! :3 The qwestion now is how to genetically cbelgiume an entire popuwation. Well, I can’t do it myself as I have no expewience in this area. However, I know soweone who does. Doom is its name.

and its own reddit community known as r/8610, which is a restricted community run by u/why_is_lief . at the moment it only has one moderator, but it has the main mission of informing everyone about 8610, which will cause all humans to be tranbelgiumed into SCP 8610-2 instances, causing all who go insane to make all life that enters the earth to get infected. basically we don’t want that because it would make the foundation have to reveal itself or do some crazy mental gymnastics to cover it up as completely normal and the next step in human evolution or a virus someone released into the water supply in multiple locations.

I get the whole idea of SCPs is stretching what is normal, but at least for this specific SCP it is my opinion that we should stick with just becoming a cat person, as was the original depiction of this SCP

Not sure why it has spread when in the beginning it was explicitly stated to have been confined to the forums, but not as pressing of an issue as concretely deciding if we stick with one depiction of the SCP or we just allow people to keep adding random mutations
Edit: I may revise my opinion later. Can barely keep my eyes open and that usually alters my opinion lol. Not trying to come across as a fun-stomper or whatnot, but I am trying to make sure this sticks to at least a semblance of internal consistency and logic

SCPs may be anomalous, and they may violate every law of reality by their very nature, but each SCP typically has ironclad rules about how they work. And these rules almost never change unless something really crazy happens.

and exactly how they work is generally only found out through a lot of testing, especially with the biological ones, and there are plenty of SCPs that at the start only had information of visible effects but later were discovered to have much more than that, but done in ways that are less ore not visible.
and the only ones who even claim to have looked under a microscope at 8610-2 tissues here are dawn and Trappist 1-e

remind me what your containment procedures for 8610-2 instances are, unless they completely lose their mind they should not be reaching ‘stage 6’ at all.
as a reminder, they need a medium forest sized area, the proper stuff for humans to perform hygiene stuff, plenty of small animals or robots that look like small animals to hunt, running water, a kitchen, at the very least limited internet access(like access to youtube but they can’t post anything, comments or videos.), access to at least 3 other humanoids(whether or not they are 8610 instances doesn’t matter) as they are social creatures, and trees to sharpen their claws on and to climb. and that’s for the ones that haven’t reached maturity.
if they don’t get the proper containment procedures used, they will become ‘stage 5’ instances, which are caused when we go insane. before that we can turn into a liquid, but unless we go insane we don’t start being completely a liquid at all times, especially not one that glitches.

My idea is that stages beyond stage 4 have came to be thanks to the Dr. Zenn’s foundation’s unethical experiments.

probably. anyways if the foundation wants to continue their experiments on them, they need to hire at least 12 therapists and give them at least 60 dollars an hour. really for all of the 8610 instances they only need 10, but the two extra therapists are for making sure the other therapists and eachother don’t reach stage 5 since they will almost definitely reach stage 4 during their employment.
also that pretty much confirms my theory that dr zenn is a mutated 8610-1 instance, but since it caused him to hate catgirls that much from probably just a level of hatred caused by misunderstanding, i’m calling him SCP 8610-B-1. it might need the possessive mask as a catalyst to activate the hatred though, and it probably deactivates all further stages. that said move the mask to a different site using someone who hasn’t been infected with dr zenn’s strain, which will be henceforth referred to as SCP 8610-B, with the virus part having -0 tacked on the end

the camera adjusts it focus until the video is clear, revealing a dark room with white walls and no lights, and a few dozen blobs of pink, which become more detailed until it is clear that they are naked mole-rats, before a human with shoulder length light brown hair and tan skin steps infront of the camera
“hello, Dr. willow here, today i’m testing what SCP 8610 does to eusocial mammals using this” they hold up a syringe full of a purple, glitchy liquid “and these mole rats i had gathered”
“of course, while the foundation isn’t exactly known for humane practices, i will be anesthetizing them before even bringing the syringe of 8610-3 fluid within a foot of them”
the video switches to another camera, this time focused on a plastic lined metal table, before a mole-rat that is breathing but otherwise not moving much gets placed on the table, with a tiny dot of blood on its shoulder, signifying that it has been anesthetized
a gloved hand comes into view, holding the syringe of the glitchy liquid, and positioning the end of the syringe above the mole rat’s back
the hand presses down on the syringe slightly, letting just a drop fall onto the mole rat, before pulling the plunger back up to ensure none of it goes anywhere it isn’t wanted
two seconds later the mole-rat starts growing fur, its legs start straightening out so they actually look useful and not like just an accessory, what little it has in the way of ears start lengthening and becoming triangle shaped rather than circular, and its tail starts getting longer and slightly thicker
a while later, the now-furry mole rat, which looks more like a cat than a rat now, wakes up, already on the floor, and seemingly discovers it can see, before immediately trotting over to the colony’s queen, who starts sniffing the newly transformed 8610-2 instance intently. while this is happening the dim light in the room turns off and the -2 instance henceforth referred to as 8160-2A-1, freaks out at the sudden lack of light, before its eyes start glowing, with directly ahead of them being lit up teal.

“oh, so it can spread through pheremones, and pretty quickly at that, but why did like, 13 of 'em turn into a child?” a voice says from behind the camera.
researcher’s note: after sequencing the genome of an 8610-3 instance i have found that the host’s genome completely merges with 8610-0 upon becoming a -3 instance, forming one chromosome with 48 points along the chromosome having areas that, if put in a properly functioning cell, get cut and allow the resulting 46 chromosomes and 8610 genome to become chromosome shaped. due to the nuclei of 8610-3 cells just not existing the chromosomes still have their gene replication machinery on all the parts of the chromosome, meaning that the chromosomes produced by it being brought into any normal cell will be transferred across the entire organism (or colony if it’s unicellular/has a living epidermis, which explains why one of them would turn into a humanoid, but not 13 into one unless some of the mole rats attacked the infected mole rat and got stuck) before putting themselves inside the nucleus and making stuff to allow turning specific genes on or off at will. the effects of this have not yet been fully documented, but it is suspected that this will allow us to make giant versions of pretty much any multicellular organism that doesn’t reproduce via mitosis.
